Welcome to your neighbourhood playhouse!
Sometimes the stars just align perfectly, and an entire season of productions of exceptional quality and huge audience appeal just falls into place. This is one of those times. Every one of the plays in our 2012/2013 subscription series is a proven hit!
As always, Arts Club on Tour is the keystone. They have outdone themselves with three hit shows. Premiering this year to glowing reviews and great audience response, the smash Do You Want What I Have Got: A Craigslist Cantata written by local icons Bill Richardson and Veda Hille hits our stage this fall. Another huge hit (Sexy Laundry) has spawned a sequel: Henry and Alice: Into the Wild. And a Hitchcock movie thriller, The 39 Steps, has been transformed into a wildly inventive hit comedy.
It is always a thrill to invite independent theatre companies to help create the “other half” of our Series. This year, we bring to our stage the biggest hit ever produced by Pacific Theatre – their Christmas-themed version of C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This magical adaptation allows us to include a family-friendly Christmas production in our Series for the first time.
Another new partner is Ace Productions, with the classic hit Billy Bishop Goes to War, a perennial audience favourite. And the entire series starts with a bang - Axis Theatre’s The Number 14, kicking off its 20th anniversary tour – perhaps BC’s biggest export after forest products!
You won’t want to miss any of these shows! And the great thing is you don’t have to travel far or pay an arm and a leg to see them. Evergreen brings the best in professional theatre right to your doorstep.
Why go downtown? We’ve got it here!
