FAQS
What is Teens @ Evergeen?
Teens @ Evergreen and Teens @ Evergreen Theatre Ensemble (TETE) are Evergreen Cultural Centre's residential youth arts program that runs from October to April-May. Students with an interest in either the visual or performing arts meet regularly at Evergreen and work on projects that deepen their experience and knowlege of arts and culture.
What are some of the Projects?
Last semester teens in the VA stream were mentored by documentary filmmaker mentor Pia Yona Massie and created two short films. Both docs premiered in the Studio Theatre as part of the Emerging Talent Festival.
The TETE group had a blast exploring the dramatic arts with Evergreen's insturctors Michael Charrois (physical theatre, circus arts, clowning) and Mandy Tulloch (comedic monologues). They were also fortunate to attend all the theatre productions at Evergreen and met the cast and crew.
What's coming up next?
The final project for the Teens in the VA stream is to create a large permanent mural in Studio C - from concept to design and painting. The group is working with local visual artist Judith M Atkinson who is guiding them along the way. The date of the unveiling will be announced.
