Gu Xiong at Coquitlam WatershedBEHIND THE SCENES AT THE ART GALLERY

Join internationally renowned artist Gu Xiong as he guides students through the creation of paper boats, which will then be installed in the exhibition Coquitlam Waterscapes. Students will learn about Gu Xiong’s artistic practice and his region-specific research while obtaining a better grasp on the behind the scenes work of an art installation. Curator Astrid Heyerdahl will give further insight, with an informal discussion on contemporary curating practices and art gallery management.


Fin DonnellyA DISCUSSION WITH FIN DONNELLY, MP
Friday, December 7th, 1pm-3pm | FREE

Evergreen Cultural Centre is proud to host this special discussion led by Fin Donnelly, NDP Member of Parliament for New Westminster-Coquitlam and Port Moody. Fin Donnelly is the NDP Critic for Western Economic Diversification Canada, Deputy Critic for Fisheries and Oceans Canada (West Coast) and was the Executive Director of Rivershed Society of BC for 13 years. This visit, in conjunction with the exhibition Coquitlam Waterscapes, is recommended for students interested in art, politics, the environment and the importance of our local aquatic system. It will include a gallery visit, talk and Q&A with Mr. Donnelly.


MASTER CLASS WITH GU XIONG
Friday, January 18, 2013, 1pm-3pm | $7 per student

Join internationally renowned artist and UBC Professor, Gu Xiong, as he delves into the nuances of his research-based installation on display at the Art Gallery at Evergreen. Waterscapes is a project that has been underway for a number of years and has been installed in several locations around the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
