WENDY ANDERSON (Visual Arts)
A freelance artist, designer and art educator, Wendy is a graduate of the Bachelor of Design Program at the Alberta College of Art and Design. She has over 18 years experience teaching and working with children. She is also a contract instructor with Learning through the Arts, a program of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Vancouver.
JUDITH M. ATKINSON (Visual Arts)
Judith is a professional artist with an extensive exhibition record and studio practice. She has over 30 years experience in the community and as a fine arts instructor for various school districts, The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Langara College. Judith graduated from Emily Carr University of Art & Design, and has studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts and the CCUAD in Florence, Italy.
LAUREN BARNETT (Dance)
Lauren has been dancing for over 16 years and has trained in all styles of dance. She enjoys working with children and has been an assistant ballet and tap teacher for dance academies in the past.
SARAH BROWNLEE (Ceramics & Clay)
Sarah has been teaching children's arts and clay classes at The West End Community Centre for over 2 years, Trout Lake Community Centre for 7 months and just started at Creekside Community Centre this term. She is a very active member with The West End Pottery Club including being elected as Communication Coordinator on the Executive Committee. Her previous schooling was at The Alberta College of Art & Design where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Ceramics, studying under Greg Payce and Katrina Chaytor.
MICHAEL CHARROIS (Drama, Voice & Speech)
A professional actor (Equity, Actra/ UBCP), Michael has been teaching drama classes for ages 5 to adult for over 20 years. He studied acting, playwriting and directing at the University of Alberta and the Banff School of Fine Arts. He has taught for the City of Surrey, Vancouver School Board, the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, and Stage Polaris Academy of Drama in Edmonton.
NIKE HATZIDIMOU (Animation & Filmmaking)
Nike is an international award winning documentary filmmaker who also has a great passion for teaching and working with children and youth. Nike has worked with organizations such as TATE Modern and Action Aid and has been a mentor to youth during several film festivals, such as Refuge in Films Festival. She has her BA in Screen Production and her MA in Documentary Film Practice. Nike is looking forward to working with Evergreen Cultural Centre as the newest addition to our amazing line up of arts instructors.
ARABEL LUK (Chinese Painting & Calligraphy, Printmaking)
Visual artist Arabel Luk holds a Bachelor of Education degree with teaching certificates in Art, English and Geography, and has a post-graduate diploma in Special Education. She has been teaching art to elementary, secondary and college levels for over 25 years and was a lecturer at Hong Kong Institute of Education.
CHRISTINA MARTINO (Dance)
Christina has been dancing for over 16 years and is trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary and lyrical dance. She attends dance competitions regularly and has won various awards and achievements.
GAY MITCHELL (Visual Arts)
Gay studied at the Vancouver School of Art, University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and received a Bachelor’s of Education in Visual Arts at UBC. As an artist she has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and works out of her studio in Port Moody. She has taught at Place des Arts, Port Moody Arts Centre and at Evergreen since 1996.
JONEY POON (Music & Rhythm, Drum Making)
Joney has been a music teacher for over twelve years. Her experience working with children shows in the natural connection she develops with them while leading them in music programs. Joney’s formal education includes classical studies in music, psychology as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from the University of Calgary and Capilano University. She also runs a private Music Therapy practice and has worked with a wide range of clientele.
MANDY TULLOCH (Drama & Musical Theatre)
Mandy is a professional actor (Equity, Actra/UBCP, British Equity) and has been in the field since the age of six. She trained in London, England and in Toronto. She has appeared in over a hundred commercials, had leads in both film and TV as well as performed on stage both in England and Canada. Not only an instructor at Evergreen, Mandy runs her own acting school, ABC Let's Act, and is an Odyssey of the Mind coach.
AMANDA WILLIAMSON (Drama)
Amanda is a graduate of the Musical Theatre Program at Capilano University. She has taught and performed with Uncle Randy Productions, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Fantasy Fables, Cornerstone Theatre (Alberta) and the Tickle Trunk Players. She is thrilled to be continuing her training and studies with the Simon Fraser Contemporary Arts program for Theatre Performance.
PIA YONA MASSIE (Filmmaking)
Pia Massie is a teacher and an award-winning multi-media artist and filmmaker. Her work has been exhibited in festivals, museums and galleries throughout North America and Europe, including The Museum of Modern Art, NYC; Musée Cantonal des Beaux Arts, Lausanne; and the grunt gallery in Vancouver. Massie’s teaching career spans work with universities, elementary schools and community programs and she has taught film at Pull Focus, Simon Fraser University, Gulf Islands Film and Television School, Pacific Cinematheque.
