WHAT THE AUDIENCE HAS TO SAY:
"I cried, it was so beautiful." ~ Gail Hourigan
I got the sense that the dancers were REALLY enjoying themselves when they were pushing the boundaries of innovative choreography. Lots of so-called 'modern dance' that I've seen before lacked the energy and athletics of what I saw tonight. Congratulations on bold moves that will win new young audiences." ~ Sari Cox |

Masters' Play April 15, 2010 | 8pm <<Tickets: $32 / $27 / $22>>
Evergreen Cultural Centre is proud to present the for the first time, Ballet Kelowna this Spring. Masters' Play is filled with artistic tension and energy featuring ground-breaking Canadian ballets that helped change the international dance scene.
Canadian master choreographer Brian Macdonald's seminal ballet "Double Quartet" was inspired by the music by Franz Schubert and Canadian composer R. Murray Shafer. Both "Etude" by Vancouver choreographer Kay Armstrong (which won international acclaim) and Ottawa choreographer Nesta Toumine's hypnotic and ethereal "Gymnopedies" explore the dynamic fusion of classical and contemporary dance. Vancouver choreographer Joe Laughlin created "Butterfly Effect" in 2006 and reworked it expecially as a pointe ballet for six dancers for Ballet Kelowna. "Butterfly Effect" displays Joe's unique stylization of movement and witty musicality and has touched audiences everywhere. David LaHay's fast-paced "Donizetti Dances" rounds out this all Canadian program.
