Shifting Views: 10th Anniversary Exhibition

To commemorate our 10th Anniversary the Art Gallery placed a call for artists from the Tri-City area. The resulting juried exhibition, Shifting Views, features six artists' interpretations of local landscapes, incorporating a variety of media including pastel, acrylic, oil, collage, watercolour, egg tempera and photography.

The content o fthe work shifts from recognizable landmarks to the less familiar terrain of the human psyche and references the history of landscape painting, an art genre that has been regarded as one of the defining characteristics of a national Canadian identity.

The artists in the exhibition come from various cultural backgrounds; their personal identity informs the landscapes they create, resulting in a myriad of ways to see and interpret the world around us.
