Emerging Talent XI
January 18 - February 16, 2008
Emerging Talent XI celebrates its 11th year and is very popular with the local community. Over the last decade, nearly 250 students have exhibited in the Emerging Talent shows. The annual juried exhibition, organized by School District 43's Secondary Art LSA teachers, follows strict guidelines that prepare students for the real world in the art business. As part of the submission process, students must be recommended by their current art teacher and be applying to a post-secondary institution to continue their education in the fine arts, graphic arts, new media or photography.
This year, the jury members are Eunice Hodge, Jerry Pietrasko, and Don Portelance. They have their work cut out for them as they deliberate in Studio B in mid January to view the overwhelming submissions ranging from traditional works such as painting, drawing, ceramic, sculpture, and mixed media to new media such as Japanese-influenced animation, computer-generated art and digital print.
The participating students from Centennial Secondary are: Judy Lee, Katlyn Townson, Bret Marsden, Sean Juang, Sean Lee, Bo Ram Choi, Amy Cho, James Jung Cheol Lim & Andrea Ables. From Port Moody Secondary: Catherine Li, Christrina Song , Emily Chan , Eun Cho (Courtney), Li Yu Ning (Krystin), Minjee Kim, Natasha Koo & Yong Jun Park. From Riverside Secondary: Paulina Lai, Lori Allen, Adam Kveton, Marika Sorila, Nicola Catena, John Dimal, Katrina Marinets, Jamilla Touré, Lisa Ohlhauser, Sarah Corsie. From Gleneagle Secondary: Alex Chen, Haejung Joung, Cindy Lee, Fiona Luo, Ashley Kim, Eileen Lee, Carolina Perez, Priscilla Lee, Max Cun, Kyla Coopman, Meaghan Strachan& Krystal Burshtynski. From Dr. Charles Best Secondary: Zebulon Mason, Alia Awan, Krystal Burshtynski & Ga Won Go, and from Terry Fox Secondary, Jessica Silva.
