Emerging Talent 9

Emerging Talent 9 was an overwhelming success! Congratulations to all artists and teachers who participated. Visitors to the Art Gallery voted for the "People's Choice Award." First place goes to Heiji Son of Gleneagle Secondary for her pencil crayon work, "Midnight Jamming." Second place was also a work by Heiji Son called "Cafe." Third place goes to Alicia Chen of Riverside Secondary for her painting "Spirit of the Dragon."
This annual juried exhibition organized by School District 43 showcases the work of grade 12 students from the Tri-City area and highlights a variety of media created by the next generation of local artists. Experimental, edgy and always provocative, Emerging Talent is the first public showing of works by these students who are committed to entering the world of art.
The exhibition was juried by local artists and educators Eunice Hodge, Jerry Pietrasko and Don Portelance. The student artists in the exhibitions are: Sarah Alwell, Kamila Bieganowska, Tasha Birsa, Alicia Chen, Frank Chen, Annabelle Choi, Yuni Choi, Evana Dominelli, Laura Graham, Breanne Henri, Alvin Hew, Rita Hou, Minkyung (Jessica) Kang, Erica Kim, Michael Kim, Richard Kim, Matthew Knockaert, Stephanie Lam, Isabel Lau, Alexa Lupul, Hjordis Ottosdottir, James Nakagawa, Brittany Neufeld, Coral Norman, Hailey Park, Nicholas Poh, Nicole Ro, Nick Rosenrauch, Lauren Selden, Caileigh Speck, Haeji Son, Jerry Tai, Samantha Taylor, Kyle Tower, Audrey Want, Timothy James Williams, Jimin Yoon, Tania Zhang, and Derek Zhou (postcard/poster image).
