Contemporary Chinese Art
Works by Huo Chun-Yang & Liu Quan-Yi

The Evergreen Cultural Centre presents an exhibition of works of art by two of China's leading artists from the northern city of Tianjin, which provides a opportunity to gain a better understanding of some of the contemporary art currently being produced in China.

Hou Chun-Yang and Lui Quan-Yi both work with ink on paper and silk. Huo Chun-Yang works in Chinese ink exemplify traditional brushwork with a focus on bird and flower subjects. His works possess a new air of naturalness - combining Tao and Zen philosophy. Liu is well know for his highly realistic portraits depicting the Miao people, one of China's indigenous groups who live predominantly in Southern china. His works are filled with figures in full ceremonial regalia and costume against a backdrop of lush landscapes.
