The Art Gallery is pleased to host the Fraser Valley Potters' Guild annual juried exhibition featuring functional and decorative ceramics. Over 100 artists compete to show works that will offer an extraordinary showcase of many different firing and finishing styles including burnished pit-fired earthenware, raku, electric, gas and wood-fired stoneware and electric-fired crystalline porcelains.
The juror is Jack Troy, from Pennsylvania, US who will be judging the work and making selections. Troy is a potter, teacher and writer, retired from Juniata College in 2006 where he taught for 39 years. He has led over 200 workshops for potters at colleges, universities and art centres in the US and abroad. His career has taken him to 13 countries and his work is in many private and public collections, including the Smithsonian Institution, Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, Japan, Auckland Museum of Art and the Kalamazoo Institute of Art.
