Clay 2005: Fraser Valley Potters Guild
(May 18 - July 3, 2005)

This annual exhibition features sculptural and functional works in clay and showcases expamples of some of the freshest and most exciting work being produced in the Lower Mainland.

The Fraser Valley Potters Guild, with approximately 150 members celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2005. The Guild comprises a mixture of student, amateur, and professional potters who meet monthly at Kwantlen College Ceramics department.

Each year, the Guild organizes a juried exhibition, which alternates at different venues in the Lower Mainland. The popular shows are a representation of the best work from each entrant as chosen by the juror. Last year for example, the show in Maple Ridge attracted 45 entrants, each of whom are allowed 10 entries.

The Juror in 2005 was Linda Sikora, an Associate Professor in the Department of Ceramic Art at Alfred University, Alfred, New York. She has taught intermittently in the United States and Canada over the last 12 years. Sikora last worked as an educator in Canada at the Emily Carr Institute in the summer of 1996.  She has an MFA from the University of Minnesota, and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
